If you want to add the plants, you will need to make sure that they are in a leak proof container. Tabletop fountains are beginning to be the new trend. You can have them outside on a patio table or you can bring the garden inside and place it on your indoor table. They are decorative and beautiful to look at, but they can also be expensive. Instead of buying them in the store, you can make your own.
Materials you will need.
A watertight container and a pump with water flow controls.
Tubing, black or clear
Pieces of precut PVC pipe
Plastic embroidery grid, cut to fit the fountain container.
Window screen, cut to fit fountain container
Marbles, river rock, beach rocks, polished pebbles,
Copper elbow to direct the water
Chlorinated water
You will need to place the pump in the bottom of the container and cover the pump with a sturdy plastic container, with places cut out on the sides for the cord and water intake. Place the cut out of the top for water flow. Next, surround the plastic container with PVC pieces and place a piece of plastic embroidery grid and piece of window screed on top of the PVC pieces.
Make sure the pump tubing extends through the top of the grid and screen. You can place decorative filler like rocks or pebbles on top of the window screen. Use any materials that will not disolve over time.

It would be a good idea to put a piece of marble or plywood underneath your tabletop fountain to protect your table from any damage. If you have hard water, you may want to use distilled water for your fountain. This will keep longer and be easier to clean the fountain. |
